Alex Stevens - Solo Baritone
About Alex:
Alex started playing tenor horn at the age of 6 and played with Brighton Silver Band alongside her dad and sisters for over 10 years. She played everything from cornet to Eb bass before figuring out she did the least damage on baritone! She then spent 4 years with City of Birmingham band whilst studying the fine arts of curry and beer consumption and occasionally remembering to go to lectures. Returning south of Watford, Alex joined Alder Valley Brass then moved to Uckfield Concert Brass where she spent 4 great years (even though some of it involved a euphonium!). Alex joined Friary in 2003 on Solo Horn and moved back to her favourite seat, 1st Baritone (well, someone has to love it!), in 2005. In 2008 Alex became the first baritone player to be awarded 'Best Instrumentalist' in a SCABA competition when the band won the Championship Section at Folkestone. Away from band, Alex works at the Defence Medical Services training centre and spends far too much time cleaning up after dogs and horses.
